Deep Learning in Medicine

Location:  Zoom
Thursday, August 6, 2020 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

Recent years there has been a dramatic resurgence of interest in using deep learning in many research and application areas. In this 2 hour session, we will present a broad and high-level overview on what deep-learning technologies can do for the domains of medicine and healthcare. Our discussion will focus on the three major application fields: medical imaging, natural language process and reinforcement learning. In each field, we will first take a brief literature survey on the current deep-learinng-related research activities to sort out a big hierarchical picture. Then we will dig into a couple of specific topics via reviewing some recent exciting achievements as illustrating examples for the subject. The talk will be ended with a general discussion about the challenges and limitations of deep learning in the medical/healthcare field.

This workshop is for all audiences, which means the material presentation is oriented for a wide range of people from data scientists to medical professionals and for both novices and experts.
